Totally Accurate Battle Simulator (TABS) is an enjoyable battle simulator game that utilizes ragdoll physics to provide fun gameplay. The game offers two main modes: campaign and sandbox. In campaign mode, players gain a limited amount of in-game currency to build an army and defeat opposing forces.
In contrast, the sandbox mode allows players to freely create armies without money restrictions. These armies can be deployed on either side of the map or arranged into strategic formations. Once the battle begins, both armies will charge towards each other and engage in battle. Victory is achieved when one side destroys the opponent’s army, freezes the battle, and communicates the outcome to the players.
While the main goal is usually to eliminate all enemy units, the May 2020 update introduced alternative victory conditions, such as surviving a specific time or targeting specific enemy units. During combat, players can control the camera perspective and observe the action from different angles. Additionally, they can manipulate the flow of time by slowing or freezing it, adding strategic depth to the gameplay.
TABS has an impressive collection of over 130 units divided into fourteen factions representing different cultures and historical periods. Some units are hidden within the map and must be discovered by the player to unlock their purpose. Each unit has unique abilities including flight, projectile deflection, and teleportation. A major update called the Fantasy Good and Evil Update introduces a conflict between good and evil factions, injecting a fantasy element into the game. The maps in TABS are consistent with the faction theme and offer different sizes and terrains.
The game offers a total of twenty maps, plus twenty-two “simulation” maps. One of the standout features of TABS is the ability for players to create their own battle scenarios using available units, maps, and victory conditions. The Unit Creator introduced in the December 2020 update allows players to design their own custom units, combining abilities, outfits, and weapons inspired by existing TABS units and spin-off games such as Totally Accurate Battlegrounds and Totally Accurate Battle Zombielator.
These custom battles and units can be shared with other players through in-game workshops, fostering a community-driven experience. The game was fully released in April 2021, further expanding the gameplay by adding online and local multiplayer modes and achievements. Additionally, the November 2021 update introduces the Map Creator, allowing players to craft unique battlefields and unleash their creativity in the game.
