LEGO Fortnite players recreate iconic Lord of the Rings game

Dexerto shared a video from LEGO Fortnite on X (formerly Twitter), featuring a digital recreation of the Lord of the Rings sanctuary Helm’s Deep created by Reddit user Crownedpepper. Crownedpepper previously built the Eye of Sauron in the game, using the castle building parts from the village upgrade in the desert region of Helm’s Deep.

LEGO Fortnite has been out for less than a month and was added to Fortnite last month along with Rocket Racing and Fortnite Music Festival, similar to Rock Band. These additions helped “Fortnite” attract more than 7.6 million players in December, with LEGO “Fortnite” contributing more than 2 million players. As confirmed by game developer Epic, all three experiences are now a permanent part of Fortnite and will receive updates. Despite some concerns, they are not limited-time modes.

Launching on December 7, 2023, LEGO Fortnite is a survival crafting game mode in Fortnite that combines the magic of LEGO building with the Fortnite universe. This open-world adventure encourages players of all ages to explore, create, and collaborate, fostering creativity and experimentation through play. In LEGO Fortnite, the goal is to build your own village, filled with Fortnite characters and guided by characters like “Brite Bomber.”

To launch the game, players select the Creative Gameplay section and select options such as stamina limits, hunger, or creature spawning. LEGO style introduces a unique visual effect to the garment, consistent with the LEGO aesthetic.

The game mode is the result of a partnership between Epic Games and the LEGO Group, teased during the Big Bang Theory event and part of a longer-term partnership announced in April 2022. The mode is codenamed “Juno” and it blends adventure and survival. July 2021 hinted at mechanics from the abandoned “Saturn” mode. Currently, there are over 1,200 LEGO skins in the game.
