The story of Yakuza Gaiden takes place around the same time as the events of 2020’s Yakuza: Like a Dragon . This spin-off game stars Kazuma Kiryu, the original protagonist of the Yakuza Gaiden series. In this new adventure, Kiryu assumes the role of a secret agent in Osaka.

In Yakuza Gaiden: The Man Who Erased the Name, players can accept a special request called “Deluxe Yakiniku Bento Dream”. This mission involves helping a homeless man who loves barbecue in Ashitaba Park, just north of Akame’s hideout. To trigger the quest, wearing a blue jacket and beanie, approach an NPC near a tent with a green tarp.
The man in the park has a strong craving for the Deluxe Yakiniku Bento Box, and players must find this special food to satisfy his request. Luxury yakiniku lunch boxes are not only available in convenience stores, but also in Japan. Players need to go to the Poppo store located at the northeast corner of Higashi Tenbori Street.
After entering the Poppo store, talk to the attendant to browse the available items. While the store offers various items such as paper towels, eggs, and sake, the must-have for this mission is the Deluxe Yakiniku Bento Box, which costs 1,000 yen.
After obtaining the Deluxe BBQ Bento Box, return to the park and find the homeless man. Talk to him and give him a Bento Box as a gift to complete the “Deluxe Yakiniku Bento Dream Request”. This action will earn the player 800 Akame Network points.
All in all, to successfully complete this mission in Yakuza Gaiden, players will need:
- The quest can be triggered by talking to the barbecue-loving NPC in Ashitaba Park.
- Head to the Poppo store on Higashitenbori Street to buy a deluxe yakiniku lunch box for 1,000 yen.
- Return to the park and give the lunch box to the homeless man to complete the mission and receive 800 Akame Network points.

In Yakuza Gaiden: The Man Who Erased his Name, you play as Kazuma Kiryu and explore the Sotenbori district of Osaka. Part of Yokohama Isezaki Ijincho can also be seen in the first chapter. If you’ve played Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Lost Judgment, this area may look familiar. There is also a place called the Castle where you can do various side activities.
As you wander around, you can enjoy classic mini-games like karaoke, pocket track racing, running a cabaret club, and even take part in some arena battles. A new character named Akame helps Kiryu by giving him additional tasks.
Kiryu isn’t just an ordinary warrior – he has two fighting styles. One is Yakuza style, which is like his classic fighting style in the old games. The other is the agent style, which relies on some high-tech equipment and its movements are very fast and precise.
Just like Lost Judgment, you can find and play some older main system games in the game. There are many of them, such as Alex Kidd in “Wonderland”, “Alien Syndrome” and many more. In addition, there are arcade games such as Virtua Fighter 2, Sonic the Fighters and Daytona USA 2.
One cool thing about Like a Dragon Gaiden is that it comes with a special trial version of another game called Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. You can unlock this trial when you complete the main story of the Gaiden for the first time. It includes a “story presentation” that continues “Side Story” with some additional scenes. There’s also a “Hawaii Demo” where you can explore the fictional Honolulu, Hawaii and try out different activities. So, it’s like a game within a game!
