They draw on Haishang’s expertise as a professor of folklore to delve into ancient texts that may be key to their quest. As the shadow becomes increasingly lethal, they plan to travel to Chojin-ri to uncover the town’s secrets.

The episode ends with a flashback that takes us back to Chosin-ri in 1958, where a group of young girls have gathered to perform a sinister ritual. The selection process remains invisible, but the chosen girl hides under a blanket, clutching her hair accessory with trembling hands. A rich woman gave her a plate of raw meat, and the girl, driven by hunger, reached out her hand, only to be mercilessly stabbed by the same woman.

The situation becomes eerie as a child’s cry fills the air, putting Hae Sang in danger. Determined to understand the circumstances of Hyun-woo’s death, San-young questions a teenager, who provides a puzzling flashback that reveals Hyun-woo’s ominous request to update his house before tragically jumping off a cliff.

The teenager also revealed Hyun-woo’s obsession with a non-existent sibling. Sanying is haunted by Hyun-woo’s soul and is taken to his home under his ethereal guidance. Meanwhile, Haishang discovers a hidden room with a trapped child inside. Before he could call the authorities, he was attacked by Hyun-woo’s father and locked in a room with the child.

Despite the dangerous situation, Haishang cleverly used glass shards to save himself and his children. As chaos ensues, Sanying arrives just in time to rescue them both, and the police subsequently arrest Hyun-woo’s parents. Miraculously, Hyun-woo’s soul dissipates into the ether. Despite these supernatural events, Sanying remains suspicious of evil spirits.
