Sheep Attack in Super Mario RPG

It should be noted that the sheep attack does not work on bosses or other large enemies. Additionally, if you defeat an enemy using a sheep attack, you will not receive any gold or experience points.

Super Mario RPG

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars is a beloved role-playing video game released in 1996 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Developed by Square and published by Nintendo, it marked Mario’s debut in the RPG genre. The game follows Mario and his friends as they embark on a journey to thwart the Blacksmith Gang, who have disrupted their world and broken up Star Road’s seven star fragments. A groundbreaking isometric 3D environment that combines turn-based combat with platforming elements reminiscent of the Super Mario series.

Directed by Chihiro Fujioka and Yoshihiko Maekawa and produced by Shigeru Miyamoto, the game received critical acclaim for its humor, 3D graphics, and engaging gameplay. Its success inspired Nintendo’s Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi series. Recently, a remaster was released for the Nintendo Switch that preserves the legacy of the iconic RPG.

Super Mario RPG

Super Mario RPG combines elements of Square’s Final Fantasy series with the platforming gameplay of the Super Mario Bros. series. The game alternates between exploration and turn-based combat.

Unlike a typical RPG, most of the gameplay takes place outside of combat, similar to a 3D platformer, with familiar Mario moves like hitting problem blocks. There are no random encounters; enemies are visible, and combat only begins upon contact with Mario, allowing players to avoid unnecessary fights.

Initially, the team consisted of Mario, but later expanded to five characters. Up to three members, including Mario, take part in the battle, with the ability to swap characters in the overworld. Each character has unique abilities; for example, Princess Toadstool focuses on healing, while Geno and Bowser offer powerful attacks.

Turn-based combat incorporates action commands that require timed button presses to enhance actions, a feature that would later appear in subsequent Mario RPGs. Players select actions from a menu, such as attacking, defending, using items, or using magic.

Super Mario RPG plot

One day, Mario embarks on a mission to rescue Princess Toadstool from King Bowser’s castle. Their battle is interrupted when a giant living sword named Axl breaks through the Star Road, shattering it and scattering seven star fragments across the ground. Mario, Toadstool Princess, and Bowser are sent flying in different directions. Mario returns home and learns that he must save Toadstool.

However, the bridge to Bowser’s Castle was destroyed by Axl. In the Mushroom Kingdom, Mario helps “Tadpole” Marlo recover the stolen Frog Coin. They discover that the Blacksmith Gang has taken over and decide to collect the star fragments.

Marlow discovers that he is not a tadpole, and he joins Mario in searching for his biological parents. Along the way, they meet Geno, the star spirit in the puppets, and together they work to repair the Star Road and defeat Blacksmith.

The journey includes fighting enemies, rescuing Princess Toadstool, and liberating the Nimbus Land from Valentina’s clutches. Eventually, Mario and his gang confront Smith in Bowser’s castle, ending the creation of his army and restoring peace. The collected star fragments repaired the Star Road and each character returned to their rightful place, marking the Mushroom Kingdom’s victory celebration.
