In May 2021, Wickersham announced her exit on Instagram, expressing her gratitude for the opportunity to be on the show where she could perform, laugh, and learn with great people. She thanked CBS and NCIS for including her in television history. The CBS network’s official Instagram account posted a heartfelt comment acknowledging Wickersham’s contributions to the show.

Notably, two months after quitting, Wickersham revealed on Instagram that she was pregnant with her first child. This may have been a reason why she decided to leave the show at the end of Season 18.

As for the character of Eleanor Bishop, her departure from NCIS was built into the storyline. In the season 18 finale, “Rule of 91,” it was revealed that Bishop leaked a classified NSA document. However, it was later discovered that her CIA mentor Odette Malone (Ilan J. Taylor) had deliberately planted the document as part of Bishop’s undercover mission.
